The one-line version
Rackd is a one-time purchase. Buy it, own it, use it forever, no monthly bill.
That's the deal. Everything below is detail.
What you can buy
Two tiers. One of them is free forever. The other is a single one-time purchase.
| Tier | Price | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Half Rack | Free | Workout logging, the full built-in program library (15 programs, 448 exercises), the last 12 weeks of history, PRs, and you can run any AI-imported program you bought on the web. Forever free, not a demo. |
| Power Rack | $49.99 one-time | Everything: program builder, templates, custom exercises, all-time history, in-workout Coach, advanced analytics, muscle balance, strength projections, and sync across 3 devices. Plus one AI program credit included. One purchase, owned forever. |
Half Rack is not a trial in disguise. You can log workouts, run a real program, and keep your history without ever spending a dollar. Power Rack adds the stuff serious lifters care about: building your own program, the analytics that actually move the needle, and your data on every device.
The subscription that exists, but probably shouldn't
There's a monthly sub at $2.99 in the app. While it's active, it unlocks the same features as Power Rack.
Owning Power Rack outright costs $49.99 once. Subscribing at $2.99/mo for 17 months costs $50.83. Past 17 months, the math says don't subscribe.
Subscriptions exist because some people genuinely prefer monthly billing. I won't take that option away. But I won't push it either.
Why I built it this way
The fitness app market is split into two camps:
- Free with ads + upsells. Your data is the product. Ads are everywhere. Premium tier locks the actually-useful features.
- Subscription-only. $10-$15/month forever. Sometimes there's a "lifetime" option for $200-300.
Both are designed for the company, not for you. Rackd's pricing is designed for the workout you'll do this Tuesday.
A workout tracker should not be a recurring expense. Building one is mostly one-time cost: server bills, API fees, my time. None of that scales with how hard you bench.
The right price for a tracker that does its job for years is somewhere between $30 and $100, paid once. So that's what I charged.
What "forever" actually means
When you buy Power Rack, you own it. That means:
- The features you bought continue to work even if I disappear (the app is local-first; your data lives on your device)
- Bug fixes and improvements to those features are free for as long as I'm around to ship them
- You can install the app on a new phone and re-download your purchase via Apple/Google's standard restore flow
- If I add genuinely new features 2-3 years from now (a new module, a new training mode), those might be a paid add-on. Your existing purchase keeps working untouched.
What "forever" doesn't mean:
- I will never charge you again for the things you bought
- Power Rack bought today won't quietly turn into a subscription tomorrow
- You will never have to "upgrade" to keep using a feature you paid for
Refunds
Refunds go through Apple or Google's standard channels. If something genuinely went wrong on my side, email support@rackd.fitness. I'll help where I can.
Beta math
While Rackd is in beta, Power Rack is unlocked and free. Purchases are blocked. You get the full app experience for as long as the beta runs.
When v1.0 lands:
- Beta users get 50% off the Power Rack one-time purchase
- Plus a fresh 30-day Power Rack trial on top of that. (Cloud sync isn't part of the trial.)
- Your data carries over completely. Custom programs, PRs, history, all of it.
It's the closest thing to a thank-you I can give for putting up with bugs.
If the math ever changes
If I ever need to make a pricing decision that contradicts the deal (adding a recurring charge to features you bought, changing what "forever" means, anything), I'll write about it here first. You'll see it before it happens, you can email me about it, and you can decide whether the change is fair before any money moves.
That's the only commitment I can actually make. It's also the one I'd want from any app I bought.
